PAMS Elevator Speech

Have you ever been asked in a social setting to quickly talk about the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences? This “elevator speech” gives you some key facts to share about PAMS - all in the span of an elevator ride or a quick cup of coffee:

The College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences (PAMS) at NC State University is highly regarded for its nationally prominent research, teaching and public outreach. Our faculty generate more than $35 million annually in research funding for projects that run the gamut from curiosity-driven, ‘pure science’ to applied research that addresses some of society’s greatest challenges in human health, energy and the environment.

At the same time, we continue to explore new teaching methods and technologies to help educate the next generation of leaders for North Carolina, the nation and the world. Through its pathway courses in the physical and mathematical sciences, the College’s 400 faculty and staff impact the educational experience of every student at NC State. Meanwhile, the 1,600 students in our own five academic departments benefit from the individual attention and family feel of a relatively small college and the wealth of new experiences and learning opportunities offered by a major research institution.

We hope that you will encourage anyone interested in PAMS to visit the College, either personally or on the Web.
