Welcome!!!

The College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at North Carolina State University and its neighboring community have developed a partnership to provide third, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders hands-on activities in science and mathematics. The Summer Program is based on the College's Imhotep Academy and is located at Southeast Raleigh Center for Community Health and Development. All of the Kyran Anderson Academy programming is designed to enhance a student’s enthusiasm for science and mathematics. The program demonstrates science and mathematics can be fun and are important to everyday life. In particular, the program provides students with role models in the teachers and teachers’ assistants. The curricular material features the contributions of scientists and inventors from underrepresented groups.

Discover Africa '08
Discover Africa 08

The purpose of the trip to West Africa
( Feb. 28 - March 7, 2008 ) was to do an assessment of the feasibility of a summer trip (June 2008) for the Kyran Anderson Academy (3rd-8th graders) to the Tema International School. The trip was composed of four undergraduates, two faculty members, one parent and myself. We visited the Team International School and numerous other historic sites in W. Africa. The final assessment was that this would be a worthwhile trip, but the Academy needed more time to raise funds and prepare the students (passports, visas, shots and so forth) for the international trip. The trip is planned for 2009.
