The Associate Dean for Research is appointed by the Dean, serves as the chief administrator for the PAMS Research Office and is the principal administrative representative on all research matters for the college. The Associate Dean oversees the pre-award staff members who handle proposal processing for the college, the post-award staff members who work directly with faculty in the accounting and financial management of their grants, the Precision Instrumentation Shop and the Scientific Glass Shop. The Associate Dean also has responsibilities for space coordination and major construction projects.
The Research Office currently has three staff positions that assist in proposal processing-an Administrative Officer II, Administrative Officer I and an Administrative Assistant I. Staff members with post-award responsibilities include two Accountants who serve as Business Officer for the College and an Accounting Technician IV who supervises the college and departmental post-awards personnel. Two college level accounting staff and one departmental accounting staff member in each department provide assistance to faculty on grant and contract accounting issues.
There are four machinists in the Precision Instrumentation Shop and one master glass blower in the Scientific Glass Shop.
Other services are provided to faculty by the College such as computer support and various analytical laboratories and are administered by other units.
