Primary Goal: To increase the retention and graduation rates of undergraduate students in PAMS

The transition from high school to college is often a difficult one, even for students who have taken AP courses and have had other college-like experiences. Students need help and guidance from parents, faculty, staff and fellow students. The PAMS Peer Mentoring Program pairs incoming freshmen with upper class mentors. The goal and objectives are listed below.

  • to have freshmen develop rapport with upper classmen
  • to increase the retention of students in the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences
  • to increase the graduation rates of students in the College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences
  • to enhance students' coping strategies for their freshmen year
